Two youngsters to represent India at J-8 summit, 2009
New Delhi, Jul 3 Two youngsters will represent the country at the seven-day Junior-8 summit which will be held in Rome from July 4 along with the Summit of of industrialized countries to discuss issues on climate change and world financial crisis.
16-year-old Sanjukta Pangi from Koraput district of Orissa and 17-year-old Samuel Venkatesan from Tamil Nadu will participate in the prestigious summit along with young delegates from Brazil, China, Egypt, Mexico and South Africa.
The youngsters will participate in the J-8 (Junior-8) summit– which runs parallel to the G8 summit– along with a group of 56 young people and will deliberate on youth-oriented solutions for this year’s topics of
climate change, the world
financial crisis and development.
“Next week, in Italy, one of the selected Indian youth delegates will share their recommendations directly with G-8 leaders, in L’Aquila on July 9.
