Indore will soon becoming “SMOKE FREE CITY”
As if the tag of being MP’s Educational Hub and greenest city was not enough, Indore is all set to add another feather to its cap – it will become the 3rd smoke-free city in the country after Chandigarh and Kottayam.
The Indore Police Department is working to get the city declared smoke free as smoking is banned at police station and other Public Places.
According to SP, Vinit Kapoor Smoking Prohibition Posters are been laid at police Station. Others are indulged in educating the Media about the Harms of smoking. The same Initiative is also taken at School of Social Work College Campus, as smoking is prohibited and students are awared.
Tobacco smoking is one of the chief preventable causes of mortality in the world. WHO, in the year 2002, estimated that in developed countries, 26% of male deaths and 9% of female deaths can be attributed to smoking. Use of tobacco currently accounts for 3 million deaths each year worldwide, and nearly a third of these deaths occur in India alone.
As prove up to this initiative more emphasise is taken on Mobilization as to aware the mass in Planned Steps.
