Indore : The state unit BJP President Prabhat Jha described the relief package of Rs 425 crore to Madhya Pradesh farmers by the Centre as ”inadequate and injudicious”, adding the meagre amount was an insult to those cultivators whose crops were damaged by cold wave conditions.
Against the state government demand of Rs 2,400 crore from the Centre for farmers whose crops have been damaged by frost and cold wave the Central government has sanctioned an amount which was inadequate, injudicious and an insult to the farmers of the state, Madhya Pradesh BJP Chief Prabhat Jha said in a statement here.
He said the Central government relief package to the farmers was meant to break the so called hunger strike of Madhya Pradesh Congress President Suresh Pachouri yesterday.
Last night, Minister of State in Prime Minister Office V Narayan Sami came down to Bhopal and announced the relief package to farmers after which Pachouri broke his five-day-long hunger strike against the state government over farmer problems.
