Indore Development Authority (IDA)

INDORE The Western Railway ( WR) on Tuesday approved the design of 8- lane Railway Over Bridge ( ROB) to be constructed on Super Corridor.

The ROB is expected to cost over Rs 50 crore. The length of the ROB would be 800 metres and width would be 37 meters, making it the widest ROB constructed in the state till date.

Indore Development Authority ( IDA) has constructed the Super Corridor connecting Aerodrome to Dewas.

The corridor crosses railway line at one place and at present a railway level crossing is functional at this place. However, in view of future traffic pressure on the Corridor, construction of ROB was mooted by the IDA. The authority had invited tenders for construction of the ROB one- andhalf years ago and after due process, the contract was awarded to Puneet Agarwal for Rs 45 crore. The design and material details were submitted to the Western Railway for approval.

However, the railway authorities raised questions in respect of height of the main span over railways tracks and materials being used in the span. The matter bounced back and forth and finally the IDA submitted a revised design incorporating the height and materials as per the requirement of the railways. After lying dormant for quite some time, the railways finally approved the design, on Tuesday.

Following the approval by the railways, the IDA is now initiating the tender process. Due to incorporation of the railwaysrequirements, the cost of the ROB is likely to be increased by Rs 5 crore.
