Manoj Parmar supporters take out rally & stage demo at IG office
Rajat Keshriya Indore
About 500 supporters of Manoj Parmar, who was shot at during a rally, staged a demonstration at the IGP office, on Monday alleging that MLA Sudarshan Gupta was behind the attack and that no leniency against him should be undertaken.
They also demanded imposition of Harijan Act against the MLA and other accused in the case.
Having photographs of Babasaheb Ambedkar in their hands, the protestors alleged that the police could be influenced in the case which would be a defeat of law. Brother of the victim, Murli Parmar, claimed that Gupta was in the rally and he was the one who ordered for shooting at Manoj.
‘Gupta wanted my brother eliminated but it was his luck that he survived the attack.’This was the first turnout in favour of Parmar.
So far, the supporters of the MLA were protesting against FIR against their leader on the statement of Manoj Parmar, who they claimed was a habitual criminal.
People supporting Parmar claimed that he had been given clean chit in 18 out of 21 cases against him and the remaining three cases are under consideration so calling him a criminal is unjust.
They also gave a copy of cases in which he had been given clean chit.
The protestors stated that the victim is a Dalit so action against the accused should be taken as per the Harijan Act.
It is to be noted that Parmar was shot at during a religious rally a week ago. Following his statement, police booked Gupta and two others.
The FIR against the MLA invited ire from various political parties, which demanded removal of Guptas name from the case stating that the police should not have believed a criminal and booked a legislator.
However, state BJP president Prabhat Jha on Sunday backed the police stating that they followed the law as FIR against whosoever it may be is lodged when a victim gives a statement.
