CM Mohan Yadav: Rs 20 crore to be allocated to plantation drive in Indore

INDORE: Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday announced plans to allocate Rs20 crore to a massive sapling plantation drive being carried out in Indore under Jal Ganga Samvardham Abhiyan. "The money will be equally divided between Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) and forest department to plant saplings," Yadav said while addressing a programme held to launch Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign in Indore. "Under the campaign, over five crore saplings will be planted in Madhya Pradesh. Indore's attempt to plant 51 lakh saplings is commendable," he said adding the city is all set to create a record in greenery, on lines of the cleanliness awards. Work to clean 131 wells started: CM Mohan Yadav Yadav also unveiled a website, missed call number, song and social media campaign for Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign. He also took part in a programme marking start of renovation work for a pond in Bhanwarsala area and lauded IMC for the extensive campaign to rejuvenate ponds and stepwells in the city. "Work to clean as many as 131 wells and stepwells has begun in the city through public participation. Over 10000 works are being carried out to collect rainwater," he said. Bhanwarsala pond that is being cleaned has area of 2.895 hectare and has catchment area of 86.16 hectare. The pond has an average depth of 3m. IMC is working on desilting, strengthening boundaries, plantation and development of gardens in the open areas.
