DAVV IET Hostel Farewell Party Turns Chaotic After Alleged Booze Celebration
Final-year students at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), DAVV, allegedly created chaos during a farewell party at the Ramanujanam hostel in Indore. The incident took place late Saturday night and continued into the early hours of Sunday.
According to university sources, students organized a farewell celebration inside the hostel premises. The gathering later turned disorderly after alleged alcohol consumption and unruly behaviour by some students.
Hostel Property Damaged During Celebration
Videos from the hostel surfaced on social media showing students shouting, dancing, and damaging hostel property. Reports said plastic tables, chairs, water tanks, and window glass panels were damaged during the incident.
Witnesses said students moved through hostel corridors late at night while loud music continued for hours.
No serious injuries were reported, but the incident disturbed other hostel residents and staff members.
DAVV Administration Starts Inquiry
DAVV and IET officials have started an internal investigation into the incident. Hostel authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and identifying students involved in vandalism and misconduct.
According to reports, the institute may withhold examination results of students linked to the incident. Authorities are also considering disciplinary action and financial penalties for property damage.
University officials said parents and companies where some students already received placements may also be informed.
Concerns Over Campus Discipline
The incident has raised fresh concerns about hostel supervision and student discipline during farewell events. Several students and parents questioned how alcohol allegedly entered the hostel premises despite campus regulations.
Education experts said universities should strengthen monitoring during late-night gatherings and improve hostel security systems.
Further Action Expected
DAVV authorities are expected to submit a detailed report after the inquiry is completed. Officials may introduce stricter rules for farewell celebrations and hostel events in the future.
The university administration has appealed to students to maintain discipline and avoid activities that damage campus property or disturb the academic environment.
